Get the most from your lemons
As you know, I don't just love lemons for their looks.
For me the lemon is one of the great healing fruits of all time, and has so many other uses besides.
My discoveries about this unsung hero covered so much ground that I ended up writing a book about it - funnily enough I called it The Lemon Book. Do you have a copy yet? If not click here and discover the secrets.
Did you know that lemons can be useful for;
- cleaning your digestive system.
- flushing toxins from your body.
- controlling constipation and diarrhoea
- strengthening your teeth bone and gums

- maintaining a healthy heart
- treating colds, rheumatism, sore throat, headache
- safely freshening the home

- repelling insects
- quickly removing stains from your hands
- keeping your scalp healthy
- reducing water retention
How hard working can one fruit be?
An old mans dreams come true... almost!
Anyway, back to my story of my little suntrap and dreams of Mediterranean climes...
I said that I thought I could smell a barbeque, however, it was just my neighbour burning her rose prunings (I think she must have put a bit of newspaper on that she'd wrapped her fish in on Friday. Curses!)
But just to prove that life can always surprise - as I looked back up the garden there was my lovely wife walking towards me with a pitcher of fresh, home-made lemonade.
Sometimes day dreams can come true... well almost!
If you fancy treating yourself to a healthy thirst quencher, here's Lara's recipe for fresh lemonade.
- 6 cups water
- 2 cups fresh lemon juice
- 2 cups mixture of Manuka honey and sugar (adjust to taste - use less for sharper finish)
- Bruised lemon flesh (add in at the end to give little bursts of lemon zing in the mouth)
- Bruised mint leaves (adds real dimension to the lemon flavour, don't use too much)
- Grated lemon zest.
- A jug of ice
Let's hope the good weather lasts.
Yours, as always
