Essential oil cream is your natural skin saviour

  • Shocking news - My mum and Big Malc share a secret past
  • The startling revelation I never thought to hear
  •  Essential oil cream should feature in everyone's beauty regime!

Malcolm is exactly what you would expect of a forty something year old rugby prop forward.

Gnarled ears, a nose that seemed to be smeared across his face and a forehead thick with the scars of battle.

'Big Malc', as he affectionately known, is revered in our local club as a real, honest son of the soil - an old time gentleman farmer who knows how to handle the rough stuff.

But as time passes his old bones and muscles are beginning to show their age and he announced that this season would be his last.

For me it is the end of an era, he being the final member of the team I played with to retire. I think I may shed a tear.

The thing is I am so surprised that he has lasted as long as he had, especially as he wasn't just there to make up the numbers, right to the last he was ultra competitive and still regularly won man of the match awards.

Now the field is left to the young whippersnappers who are all gelled hair, strong aftershave and shaved torsos!

I had always thought that my generation didn't suffer from the same level of vanity, however, Malc's secret of longevity turns out to be one of my mother's secret cosmetic potions.

A startling revelation

There we were, sat in the corner of the snug chatting about our exploits on the rugby field when, without warning, a throw away comment made me snap to attention.

"Of course, I knew that I had to have help to look after the knocks so I turned to the best healing product on the market," said Malc "Pommade Divine."

Now hold on there Malcolm old chap... I know all about Pommade Divine, in fact it is one of the best presents I can ever buy for Lara, my wife. She adores the way her skin feels from a daily application, the power of this natural preparation to hide a blemish and the mythical powers of rejuvenating even the baggiest of tired eyes.

More than that, I wholeheartedly advocate the use of Pommade Divine as a magic cure all, whether it is for bruises, bites or stings - It is still the first thing I pack whenever we go on holiday.

But here was a brute of a man telling me that the reason he was still playing rugby well beyond the age where I had hung up my boots was my 'Mum's Magic Cream.'

Whenever he suffered a knock, a sprain or a cut he would liberally use Pommade Divine to speed up his recovery. I used to think it was a result of his healthy outdoor life, or the fact that he was often to be found knee deep in cow dung that kept him going!

As this news sunk in he even dropped another bombshell.

"I've even found out that some of the proper professional players use it as well."

I couldn't let this stand, so a quick bit of research later and I find that it is all true.

Josh Lewsey, one of the bedrocks of England's 2003 World Cup squad is quoted as saying:

"When your occupational hazard is to get beaten up on a weekly basis, it is vital to look after your body. It is no coincidence that some of the best remedies are the most traditional. That is why I'd recommend Pommade Divine."

So there you have it. A ringing endorsement from a professional and also one of the hardest men in local rugby in the South West... are you going to argue with them?

Discover the secret of essential oils for yourself

When something has been around for over 200 years you would think everyone would know about it wouldn't you?

Not so, this product has remained a closely guarded secret by those in the know - and it's only just recently that more people have begun to find out about it.

So what is the magic ingredient? Well, there is nothing magic - just natural.

Let me explain.

Lot's of people made their own version of this formula, but the most effective was made by a family company - Butler & Co. This became the best known and was widely stocked..... in the late 18th Century!

In the modern era, big business got its claws into the family firm and bought them out. But, as is often the case, they didn't invest in promotion or distribution - and the product ceased production.

Anybody think this might be because they could make bigger profits from 'newer' products? Can you see the trend for hiding good, proven and natural solutions to health problems, and pushing the big company products?

Call me a cynic if you will.......... why not I am one. History will bear me out in this.

How many times do we see good natural remedies being hidden to make way for corporate greed?

In this case there has been a fight back!

The good news is that the original family were able to buy back the rights, and have been making small quantities to sell privately.

It is packed with natural ingredients such as:

  • Benzoin: Indigenous to the Far East, benzoin was used medicinally to treat dry cracked skin. The deep penetrative quality of its rich, slightly woody scent aids healing of vital superficial circulation in the muscles and tendons.
  • Cinnamon Oil: Originally from Sri Lanka, cinnamon was used medicinally in ancient Egypt as well as for flavouring dishes. Cinnamon oil is an anti-fungal and anti-bacterial agent, with a sweet and fragrant aroma.
  • Nutmeg Oil: The nutmeg tree is native to the Spice Islands of Indonesia. It produces two spices: nutmeg and mace. Nutmeg has long been lauded with possessing "magical powers", and in small doses it can aid a variety of ailments.
  • Clove Oil: Also from the Spice Islands of Indonesia and used as early as 400BC, clove oil is a strong antiseptic. It comes from the tropical clove tree and its bouquet and flavour are both pungent and strongly aromatic.
  • Arachis Oil: A wild plant from South America, arachis was introduced in pre-Columbian times to the West Indies and Mexico. Its oil softens and soothes the skin
  • Prepared Storax: Found in trees discovered in Mexico in the 16th Century, storax is now harvested in forests in Turkey and elsewhere. It has an agreeable, calming balsamic odour.

It really is a natural skin toolkit.

Whether you need to treat sunburn, insect bites, scratches, nappy rash or skin that has lived a long and active life - it's all you need - even if you need to put right the damage done by 20 stones of opposing prop!

So you owe it to yourself to stock up on Pommade Divine, keep one pot in the cosmetic drawer and the other in the medicine cabinet... and now even a tube in your kit bag!

Yours, as always
