Discover the best natural cold cures

A magic compound known as Propolis, which is made by bees from the resins of pine cones and tree bark, can't be beaten. Bees use it to maintain and disinfect the hive.

Propolis has been around and widely used since who knows when, but there is evidence of its popular use at the time of Aristotle (about 350BC), and has been found as a component of embalming fluid on ancient Egyptian mummies.

So it's fair to say it's been about for a while.  Here's the best one I've come across: PROPOLIS 5x Concentrate

The West hadn't really cottoned on to how useful it could be until two scientists from Denmark and France published a definitive tome outlining the health benefits.

Later, Prof. Scheller, the head of a team of four doctors at the Institute for Microbiology at the Medical Academy in Poland found that propolis is able to stimulate the immune system.

It works by increasing the formation of antibodies to build our body resistance to diseases and by stimulating our body to release chemicals that protects us from cellular deterioration.

As a result propolis is used for infections caused by bacteria (including tuberculosis), by viruses (including flu, H1N1 "swine" flu, and the common cold), by fungus, and by single-celled organisms called protozoans. Propolis is also used for cancer of the nose and throat; for boosting the immune system; and for treating gastrointestinal (GI) problems including Helicobacter pylori infection in peptic ulcer disease. Propolis is also used as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent.

But, bees don't just offer us propolis to treat colds. These industrious little fellows are churning out more health products than GSK.
One of their other marvels, apart from the delights of honey is Royal Jelly.

This has long been written about, and for a very good reason... the evidence is there to support many of the claims made.

Over the last few years various researchers have discovered that Royal Jelly is effective in combating liver disease (2002, Townsend Letter for Doctors & Patients), controlling blood pressure and hypertension (2004, Biological and Pharmaceutical Bulletin) and even controlling cancer (2004, Journal of Science & Agriculture).

I think we should do more to promote the work of bees.
